NINTH ANNUAL MUSIC STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
"How Does Music Unite Cultures Within Your School and Community?"
Entry rules: 250 words or less. Ten $1,000 scholarships awarded in two categories .Five $1,000 scholarships to students in grades four to eight and five $1,000 scholarships to students in grades nine through twelve. Equal merchandise prizes contributed by Alfred Publishing Co., Hershey''s Fund Raising,Yamaha Corporation of America and Avedis Zildjian Co.awarded to schools of winning entrants. Who is eligible: All public and private school students (including home school) in grades four through twelve. How do I enter: Visit the sbomagazine.com Web site and click on Essay Contest or submit your entry to Student Scholarships, SCHOOL BAND AND ORCHESTRA, 21 Highland Circle, Needham, MA 02494. Along with the essay furnish the following information: Name, Address, City, State, Zip Code, Telephone, Age, Grade, Instrument Played, Name of Music Teacher/Director (e-mail address when available), Name of School, Address, City, State, Zip Code, Name of School Music Dealer (if known). Entries will be judged by the SBO Magazine Editorial Board and a panel of music professionals. Essays must be submitted by December 31, 2008.
